THE POTTER'S FIELD
"The kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field", Matthew 13:44. "The field is the world", Matthew 13:38, and the good seed, (the treasure hid in it), are the children of the kingdom". Man who is sown in the field is is likened unto God's jewels (EL'S-JEW and also how God did SEL-(J)YEW, Malachi 3:6,17), is "more precious than the gold of Ophir", Isaiah 13:12. "God so loved the world (field) that He gave His only begotten son...for God sent not his son into the world (field) to condemn the world, but that the world (field) through him might be saved", John 3:16-17. "Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love (Revelation 12:12,15-16) neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would be utterly contemned", Song of Solomon 8:6,7.
The following is how Jesus made the parable of treasure hid in the field a living parable of reality and how Jesus became the substance of the man's house (his body) that was given for love, 1 Corinthians 6:19. His "substance" was "contemned" by men and devils but not by God. Several key texts are interwoven to reveal this light. Observe the wording of Psalm 2:6-9 in which God says of Jesus: "I have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me , Thou art my son; this day have I begotten thee: Ask of me and I will give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod iron; thou shalt dash them in peaces like a potter's vessel". We have seen that the field is this earth. God gave Jesus a chance to actually live out the purchase of the "field" and to "ask Him" for it! And Jesus did ask God for "the heathen for an inheritance and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession", saying "Father I will that they also (the "heathen" and ALL MEN) whom thou hast given me be with me where I am, (in heaven) that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me", John 17:24. All that the Father hath given me shall come to me ; and he that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out, John 6:37. "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me", John 12:32. Thus Jesus became the man in the parable of treasure in the field who went to the earth-field and found treasure in it. What is the "treasure" of the field? We have shown in the preceeding paragraphs that human beings are described as God's jewels, more precious than the gold of Ophir. "What is man that thou art mindful of him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honor", Hebrews 2:6-7. "So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him: male and female created He them", Genesis 1:27. Men are accounted treasure to Him.
To redeem the world-field and the treasure (MAN) in it, Jesus had to pay the purchase price required by the Father. God does not take metallic Gold and silver, the legal tender of men. What could Jesus give to become the inheritor of the heathen and the possessor of the uttermost parts of the earth? Since Jesus himself was more precious than gold in the allegorical sense, he had to give himself. That is how he paid in gold , the required price of redemption. In Zechariah 11:10-13 we find a revelation of how the transaction was struck between God, the seller, and Jesus the purchaser. The treasure (MAN) in the earth-field was in a divided state. And treasure above (Malachi 3:17; Hebrews 12:22-24), or "Beauty" was divided from "Bands", or men on earth held captive and bound by the powers of darkness, John 8:31-32; Ephesians 2:1-3; 2 Timothy 2:28. Thus they were alienated from one another. So Zechariah was told to show how the deal was struck between God and Jesus for the purchase. "I said unto them, if ye think good, give me my price; and if not forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. And the Lord said unto me, Cast it to the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and I cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord". That this "act" by Zechariah revealed the deal between God and Jesus for mankind is known by a key in Isaiah 64:8: "But now, O Lord, thou art our Father; WE ARE THE CLAY, and thou our Potter; and we are all the work of thy hands". "Call no man your Father upon the earth, for ONE is your Father which is in heaven", Matthew 23:9. So God is the Father of human beings, not men with flesh and blood. Going along with POTTER-GOD, Jeremiah 18:1-6 declares man is the clay vessels molded by the Potter, and Isaiah seconds this motion; this time in Isaiah 45:9-12. Jeremiah wrote, "The word which came to Jeremiah saying, Arise and go down to the potters house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel as it seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the word of the Lord came unto me saying, O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay in the potters hand, so are ye in my hand, O house of Isreal". It is these very same clay vessels, man's fleshy bodies, that God said Jesus must break-up and smash with an iron rod and to rule over them. Thus we see both the treasure (MAN) and the clay (human bodies of flesh) of the field (world) were to be purchased by the MAN (Jesus) from the POTTER (God). Some clay vessels of the field are "marred", but He will remake them.
The true act of purchase was accomplished when Jesus was sent down into the earth-field. Angels heralded the event, that a purchase of the field was to be made, Luke 2:10,14. Later Jesus declared that he came to "save" (purchase) the world (field), Matthew 18:11-14; John 17:11; 2 Thessalonians 2:2-9. Acting in the place of Zechariah in the real purchase event, Judas Iscariot asked the Pharisees for the "price" of (God's gold) Jesus. They agreed to pay him thirty pieces of silver as in Zechariah's prophecy, Matthew 26:14-16. The "gold" (Jesus) changed hands when Jesus' spirit was lifted up and he said, "Father into thy hands (righthand of power) I commend my spirit", Luke 23:46. Still acting in the pattern of Zechariah's prophecy, Judas went to the temple and cast the silver down before the Pharisees. Promptly the Pharisees took the money and purchased the Potter's (God's) field indicating that His true priest, Jesus, had indeed purchased the earth-field, Matthew 27:3-8. And there they bury the broken clay-vessels (men's bodies which Jesus smashed with his wROD of IRON, God's wORD of IRe ON us, or His anger. By this means Jesus will rule over us as a "spirit" inheritance and possession, John 12:24; Hebrews 12:22-24. That WORD OF GOD in Psalm 2:6-9 cannot be broken! Why don't you say, "Amen"!?
Jesus purchased the world-field, both the clay (men's bodies) and the treasure (the spirits of men) in it by spilling his own blood. ALL MEN (THE CLAY) IN THE WORLD (FIELD) in all generations whether "marred vessels" or good vessels in all generations to the uttermost end have been redeemed for "thirty pieces of silver"!! But Lucifer, the son of perdition is excluded. Whether they have to be smashed to shivers with Jesus' rod of iron in the rule process, or whether they are "vessels for clean use" as Paul put it or righteous "treasure", WE ALL HAVE BEEN BOUGHT WITH A PRICE! 1 Corinthians 6:20. The price of our redemption was Jesus'sacrifice to bring many sons to the Lord-Father, Hebrews 2:10. This is in accord with the spiritual law of Moses, Numbers 3:40-51, which cannot pass away regarding the firstborn. The Spirit has called ALL MANKIND "members of his BODY", 1 Corinthians 12:12-25; Ephesians 5:30. In the Father whose name is "First", ALL MEN are "First"-born as His children, Psalm 82:6-8,87; Isaiah 41:4,28; Matthew 23:9. Allegorically Jesus symbolized all the "First"-born bodily, Hebrews 2:10-11. So we see even Moses taught the "gospel of redempton" albeit in parabolic form.
In conclusion, the kingdom of heaven consists of treasure or righteous men and clay or "prodigal" children in this world-field. Jesus purchased ALL for an inheritance and possession, Hebrews 12:22-24. So bless the POTTER'S name, Father-God!! For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance, Psalm 94:14. "I know that whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever: nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him", Ecclesiastes 3:14.
